A keynote speech from Dr. Asmae Ourkiya.
Description from the speaker:
„ In my keynote speech, titled “How Logical is Biological? On Climate & Gender Justice through a Queer Ecofeminist Lens”, I explore the intersections of climate and gender justice from a queer ecofeminist perspective. The speech challenges the traditional notions of biological determinism and essentialism that have been used to justify social inequalities.
Through various examples, I demonstrate natural diversity in humans and other-than-human species, and I argue that embracing this diversity is essential for achieving ecological balance and social justice. This presentation highlights how marginalized communities, including women and LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, are disproportionately affected by climate change but also play crucial roles in environmental activism, and incorporates intersectional queer ecofeminism as a tool to intersect climate justice with gender and social justice. ”
